Acting Together: Pupils of the “Fridays for Future” Movement Biberach, students and scientists of the University of Applied Sciences Biberach (HBC) are organizing a first Biberach Student Climate Conference on May 24. Those who are interested in sustainable topics and who are committed to protecting the climate are welcome.

The event will start at 1 pm at HBC Campus City (Lounge, Karlstr. 6 to 8); From 2 pm, round tables on various issues are planned, where the global and local framework conditions can be discussed. What challenges does climate change pose to humanity? How are climate change and social justice related? How do we get into a renewable future? Or in concrete terms: how can plastic packaging be avoided and what possibilities are there for sustainable mobility in Biberach?

Over the past few weeks, members of the “Fridays for future” group at Biberach have worked intensively on how they can set an example together and for the Biberach site – for the protection of our planet and against climate change. “We would like to support students in sustainable subjects and as scientists with expertise in energy technology, the energy industry and resource-saving biotechnology processes,”says Vice-Rector Professor Jens Winter. As a member of the university administration, he has supported the preparations for the event, in which less discussion than the concrete action should be in the foreground. Amongst other things the students plan an upcycling campaign that everyone can work on and that should be a visible sign of more environmental protection during the course of the event.
