The Zeppelin University (ZU) sees itself as a "University between economy, culture and politics" and is a state-recognized University, accredited by the Science Council Foundation. The ZU is in private ownership and was the first private university to receive the right to award doctorates by the State of Baden-Württemberg.

Since the founding of the university in 2003, it has been an attractive education provider. The approach is to train students to become leaders in business, culture and politics.

The ZU is dedicated to research and teaching in currently three departments (humanities and social science) and eight research networks with about 1,000 students who study in a total of 14 programs and are supervised by about 50 professors.
