An important part of the training of “Systems Engineering” students is their practical relevance. Therefore, each semester, the theoretical content is implemented again in a project. The first cooperation project of the program took place with the company Grenzebach. Over the entire third semester, students worked on construction, mechanics and materials science in theory. At Grenzebach, they were able to gain practical experience based on real industrial issues in the large-scale cooperation project.

For example, the students dealt with the redesign of a component and the recalculation of damage cases. The students calculated the deformations and stresses with respect to the lifetime of the product and simulated the welds with modern digital methods. Among other things, they developed a special triple weld to extend the life of the lock chamber lid and made a 3D model on the computer.
